About Us
The American Fork 33rd Ward has stopped setting up flags and has
passed it on to a private trust. The trust is overseen by a board of
trustors and managed by two trustees. The Board of Trustors consists
of Bishop Tyler Rogers, Nathan Slater, and Andre Chatelain. The
initial trustees are Jordan Gilbert and Blaine Edwards. The Flag Trust
is designed to benefit missionary efforts for the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Days Saints.
Do the youth "earn" money?
This question needs to be answered in two parts. The first part
concerns youth labor laws in the State of Utah and the United States.
With respect to any engagement between the trust and the youth, there
is not employer/employee relationship. All work performed on behalf of
the trust is done voluntarily.
We will still uphold respectible hours when asking individuals to
volunteer. By nature, setting up flags require work to be peformed on
major holidays. We will have any volunteers work no earlier than 7:00
AM and no later than 7:00 PM.
The second question that needs to be answer is regarding tax laws. Tax
laws in the United States are complicated and we are making sure that
we are abiding by all such laws. While we are completing this
research, we are keeping all funds in a general account that is not
designated to any given youth. As we resolve these issues, we will
provide additional updates. Even if inidividuals do not receive
individual monetary benefit from performing service for the Trust, we
are happy to help the kingdom of God roll forth by supporting the
missionary program.
Is the Flag Trust a 501(c)(3)
We are in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status from the Internal
Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States of America. Additional
Information will be provided in the future.
Do I need to donate to have the flag service?
No donations are required to have a flag set up in your yard. While we
appreciate donations, we don't expect any. We like to see the flags go
up.
If you would like to donate to the Flag Trust, please make donations
to the "Flag Trust". Donations may be given to either Jordan Gilbert
or Blaine Edwards. Additional payment methods will become available in
the future.
We have a suggested donation of $50.00.
